-Surface engineering, Coating process, Electrochemical treatments, Development and modification of electrolytes for electrochemical coating process such as Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation
-Study of corrosion mechanisms, corrosion evaluations and prevention methods.
-Metallurgy of light metal and its alloys with emphasise on Aluminium, Magnesium and Titanium
-Microstructural analysis and study of the grain boundary of the metals and alloys by SEM, XRD, XPS, EDAX
-Mechanical analysis; evaluation and interpretation of test results; tensile, Compression, fatigue
-Nanocomposite materials; consolidation, production, characterisation
Current Research project:
-Relation between Microstructure and protectionability of ceramic Coating produced by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation
-Development of a new electrolyte to improve the pisoelectric properties of the coatings on titanium
-Application of electrochemical coating to improve the surface characteristics of Al-parts in laser devices
-Processing, microstructure evolution and mechanical properties (under quasi-static and cyclic loading) of Mg-SiC nanocomposites-DFG Project
Research Interest
-New application of Plasma Electrolytic oxidation coatings in bio and Nanotechnology as well as medical applications
-Corrosion mechanism, evaluation and prevention methods as well as damage analysis and modifications specially for light metals such as Al, Mg and Ti.
-Study of the corrosion behaviour through simulation and electrochemical methods such as Polarization and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) before and after electrochemical surface treatments e.g. Plasma oxidation.
-Development of new electrochemical coating methods, modification of new electrolyte to improve the performance and protectability of the coatings.
-Influence of microstructure on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the metals and alloys
-Nanocomposite materials; consolidation methods, production, characterisation
